More specifically, a web cam and an external hard drive. The former is probably more of a luxury, while the latter is badly needed.
The web cam, a [Logitech QuickCam Fusion->http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/products/details/US/EN,CRID=2204,CONTENTID=10562], is a rather high-end web cam with a bunch of nice features. It's got 1.3 megapixel resolution, a built-in microphone with echo-cancellation, a good wide angle lense, and decent low-light behaviour among others. It's supposed to cost $99, but I was able to find it for half of that. As I said, it's probably not a thing I necessarilly need, but hey, it's fun. 
As for the hard drive, a [300 GB LaCie drive->http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10694], I do need it. I was previously thinking about buying [another model->http://www.lacie.com/products/product.htm?pid=10468], but chose this one because it was slightly bigger and much cuter. The reason why I need it badly is that the amount of free space on my laptop has been somewhere between 0 and 1 GB for the last few weeks now. That is really way too little, and the computer complains by acting even slower than normal. This toy/workhorse costed me about $185.
UPDATE 2006-01-31: I actually changed my mind about the hard drive in the very last second.
